Normalising is a heat treatment process which is used to create metal more ductile and tough when it has been subjected to mechanical processes. Normalizing requires heating a material to an elevated temperature followed by cooling in air. The heating and cooling down modifies the microstructure which reduces hardness and increases ductility. The difference between annealing and normalizing is that Normalizing permits the material to cool down by placing it in the room temperature and environment.
